Our Ryzen system meets or exceeds all of the recommended system requires for X-Plane 11. The new Ryzen System is based around Nvidia's new 20-series GPUs and AMD's new Ryzen 3000 processors. These processors pack higher IPC (instructions per clock) than their predecessors as well as substantially higher clock speeds. The results is a processor that can go toe to toe with Intel and can actually stomp Intel in workloads involving many processing cores (like video editing, rendering, scientific computing, etc). Intel is still slightly faster in gaming, but AMD is so close you probably won't be able to tell. YEAH!
The Nvidia RTX video cards support new technologies like GDDR6 memory, Ray Tracing, and DLSS. Ray tracing is an all-new way of handling light. It is much more advanced and lifelike way to produce amazing lighting effects. DLSS is a new way of handling Anti-Aliasing, which is twice as efficient as Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA). Anti-Aliasing helps to rid you game or simulator of jagged lines. Note: These new features are not available in all games.
The new RTX cards also have a special VirtualLink/USB-C port (2080 and 2080Ti). This port will be used to power future VR headsets. In the past, VR headsets needed a separate POWER, DATA, and VIDEO connection. This new VirtualLink/USB-C will handle all three in one connector.
Per the Steam VR (Virtual Reality) Readiness test, the system is VR-Ready. So, if you decide to go for the Occulus Rift or HTC Vive VR Headset, you'll have all of the power you need.
Mass storage is typically the bottleneck in just about every system. So, how do we reduce this bottleneck? We do this by providing an SSD now as standard equipment. That means Windows will load in seconds, not minutes. Anything that is disk-intensive will be much faster as SSDs are so much faster than regular hard drives. Also, SSDs rarely fail. So, your data is safer on an SSD. We use a high-speed Nvme SSD, which is faster than the typical SATA SSDs found in most systems.
We give you a nice range of processors to choose from. For the most part, they all run games at about the same speed. As you go up the product line, you get more CPU cores, which helps in things like video editing, 3d rendering, and other multi-threaded workloads. Gaming usually does not benefit from any more than 4 cores.
